We know that road construction can be frustrating, but we also know that the construction is a means to an end with safer and more efficient travel in the future. We are grateful that you are choosing to continue to stop and patronize Janesville's many businesses and hope that the information below is helpful as you plan your travels.
Milwaukee Street will be closed from Main Street to River Street from October 1, 2018 to the Fall of 2019 for the reconstruction of the Bridge. The sidewalks will remain open during the project allowing access to the businesses within the closure.
Water Street to through traffic will also be closed during the project. Access will remain open to the businesses along Water Street including the post office drop box. However the parking will be closed for staging of the project.
Current Updates from the contractors.
The west abutment was completed last week. Currently our contractors are removing temporary sheeting at the west abutment. Placing beams and formwork for the main bridge deck/driving surface will be starting next week. The formwork will start at the west side and will progress to the east while work on the east abutment continues.
Terra Construction is currently preparing to drill holes at the east abutment in preparation for pile driving by Zenith Tech. All pile driving for the project is expected to be completed over the course of the next two weeks.
As many of you know the project is running behind schedule and is expected to be completed in fall. WisDOT and the City of Janesville have requested the team of contractors put more crews and resources on the project to expedite the schedule.
